Good evening!
Thank you very much for visiting this blog!

Today I’d like to introduce a restaurant in Kochi, “resort dining Se Relaxer”.

Introduction of new writer

You might think that the new series of my trip to Shikoku Island starts after the report of my trip to Kansai area of Japan, but that’s not correct.
Unfortunately, I’m not that rich so I can’t go on trips so often^^;
This article was written by a person who lives in Kochi City.

To tell the truth, the English articles on this website are the translations of the original Japanese blogs.
I outsourced the translation work to a crowdsourcing website.

I used to do it by myself about once in a week, but it became difficult from October in 2017 because I became so busy at work, and furthermore, my health broke down.
Fortunately, the translator who I knew on the crowdsourcing service happened to be a person who love Nihonshu.

When I started to outsource the translation, I was working on renovation of this website.
I added “personal page” function to the new website to enable the users to leave comments or photos about restaurants and sake, and to make database of restaurants and sake by the users themselves, which was originally done only by me.

By this installing new function, this website will be like an SNS, and the both the users and I will be able to develop the contents.
At this point, I came to a mind that I can also outsource writing blog articles to other people.
I asked the translator if she can write some articles, and she agreed it readily.
Today’s article is her first blog article.

The main theme is same as my blog articles in “My Three Meals”, but of course, the style is different from mine.
For example, while my blogs are a kind of metaphysical with dark and deep impression sometimes, her blog is bright and fun^^;

It is nice to have such various blogs on this website, so the users can enjoy the contents without getting bored!

Herewith I’d like to introduce a little (little, but all I know) about the writer, “K”.
She is an office worker of her 20’s who loves Nihonshu and lives in Kochi City in Shikoku Island.

Talking about Kochi Prefecture, or “Tosa” (the old name of Kochi used in the Edo period), this year’s NHK Taiga-drama (year long history drama) is about Takamori Saigo (a famous person from Kagoshima, Kyushu, who worked in the end of the Edo period), so more people should visit Kochi after the episode of “Saccho Domei” and “Ryoma Sakamoto” (a big historical event in the end of Edo era and a Kochi person who worked for it).
If her blog here helps such people’s travels in Kochi, it’s an honor for this website as well.

This new content might not be updated regularly, but I’d like to keep it continuously.
I hope that you visit her articles as well as my blogs.

Now, the report from Ms. “K” starts!

Thank you very much for visiting this blog!

Now it’s cold December, and the middle of year-end parties!
Today’s report is from all the way from Kochi, and the writer is a secret correspondent, “K”.

“resort dining Se Relaxer”

There was a restaurant which I had been wishing to visit recently.
I heard that the restaurant provides good foods and sake of Kochi (everything is good in Kochi, by the way), and it’s so popular and so often difficult to get a seat.

The name is “resort dining Se Relaxer”.
I chose a weekday to avoid busy time.
I visited there for the first time on a Thursday, and I succeeded to get a seat!
They are on the third floor of a building, so we don’t often see the place when walking on the street.

The inside was open and wide.
The area of counter seats was as big as table seats (or it could be bigger), so I didn’t feel lonely at all even though I visited alone.
The master and the staff were nice and kind, so I felt comfortable at one sight.

Kochi has many good Izakaya restaurants, but there are not so many restaurants which serve many local Nihonshu.
I’d heard that this restaurant has specially selected sake from all over Kochi.

Nihonshu menu at Se Relaxer

I checked the drink menu with excitement.
Hooray! My favorite, “Kameizumi Junmai Ginjo Genshu CEL-24” is here!

You don’t see this label everywhere.
While the name is so unique which is like a character from a famous Japanese cartoon (Cell from “Dragon Ball”. For Japanese, the pronunciation “CEL”and “Cell” is same) or other special effect movies, the taste is very nice.
Of course, I ordered a cold “Kameizumi CEL-24” for the first glass.

As soon as I ordered, the sake and the appetizer arrived.
The appetizer was a gratin of “Tsugani”.
“Tsugani” is a type of river crab which is known as “Kochi’s Shanghai hairy crab”.
As I heard before visiting, they provide real Kochi foods from the first serve.

Kameizumi Junmai Ginjo Genshu CEL-24

“Kameizumi Junmai Ginjo Genshu CEL-24” has a sweet taste like a fruit, and it doesn’t have a typical heavy alcoholic impact at first impression.
However, it does have deep Nihonshu flavor, so you drink a lot and get drunk without recognizing it.
This is a sake which is enjoyable enough by itself.

But, wait.
The sake went great with the first dish, “Shuto + Cream Cheese”.
“Shuto” is salted and pickled fish guts which is a famous food of Kochi.
The thick, rich flavor of Shuto & cheese and the smooth taste of CEL-24 matched perfect!! Ummm, so good!
I will order this dish every time I come to this restaurant from now.

Kure Junmai Ginjoshu +9 Namazake Limited Label

Because CEL-24 was delicious and easy to drink, I finished up the first glass right away.
I ordered the second drink.

The next one was “Kure Junmai Ginjoshu +9 Namazake limited label”.
I chose this one because I was interested in “+9” and “limited” in the name.
A lady came and poured it in my glass.
After pouring it, she left the bottle on the table for me.

The “limited label” was leopard print!
It’s such a GYARU! Or madams in Osaka!
(Well, GYARU is a way to call young girls who wear thick make-ups and showy clothes (the definition differs depends on the person though), and Japanese people often make jokes about madams in Osaka wearing unique animal print clothes.)

The normal label of “Kure” is simple white labels.
The lady at the restaurant told me that the brewery has not only leopard, but also other animals’ print on the labels.
The brewery should have both techniques to make such a good sake and hospitality to entertain people.

The “Kure” had stronger flavor which went through my nose compared to that of “CEL-24”. It had a different type of clear taste.
This one was a type of sake which develops its flavor with foods to go with.

When I was excited about its unique label, a man who was sitting next to me got interested in my comment, and he treated me a glass of sake!

The food of Se Relaxer

The second food I ordered was this, “Steamed Kochi vegetables in a bamboo steamer”.

Sooooooo beautiful!
I live by myself, and I often hesitate to buy and eat vegetables because they are expensive at supermarkets.
Therefore, these vegetables looked even more beautiful for me.
It contained more than 10 kinds of local vegetables.
I had them with the sun-dried salt and Ponzu vinegar of yuzu citrus both made in Kochi.

The original taste of each vegetables struck my heart!
I decided to order this dish every time when I visit there, too.

I had fun chatting with other customers and the staffs, and I had a great time even though I was alone at first.
They had many kinds of wine as well.
I’d like to try some wine next time.

“resort dining Se Relaxer” was a fantastic restaurant.
I had a happy night on the day, and it was good to know such a good place which I can visit alone.

It's our great pleasure if this article is helpful for you.
