Soba and “O-karakuchi Rekka” at “Togakushi Seifun” under Kanda Station

Good evening.
Thank you very much for reading this blog.
Today I’d like to introduce a Shinshu soba restaurant “Togakushi Seifun” under Kanda Station.

It’s in the passageway connecting the east exit and the west exit under Kanda Station.
The inside is like this.

The interior looked clean and new, and there were both table seats and a bar counter.
Even though it locates under the girder bridge and the Yamanote Line trains and Chuo Line’s rapid trains pass by one after another, the inside was so quiet that I almost forgot its location.

The day I visited was Monday. The time was over 9 in the evening after meeting with someone at Shinjuku, and I wanted to have some drinks before going home.

I chose this restaurant after wandering around for a long time.
Soba noodles restaurants like this place or ramen restaurants are easier for me to try because they usually have many single customers like me.

Soon after I took a seat, I checked the menu.

A menu called “Namimori (normal volume) Soba with another serve for free” caught my eyes. The point is that it was “Juwari” Soba! (“Juwari” means “100%”. Soba is often made by mixing soba powder and flour, but “Juwari” soba is only made of soba powder. You can enjoy the original flavor of soba more with “Juwari” soba.)
Because I was on a diet, I told myself that the second free serve was not for me.
I saw the drink menu next.

They had another special sheet for Sake menu.

The photo is blurred, so to explain it, the left one is “Miwatari Junmai Daiginjo” which is a highest class product made by Toshimaya.
The right one is “O-karakuchi (Super dry) Rekka” made by Fuyo Shuzo. Both are made in Nagano Prefecture.
There was another sheet of Sake.

Another sake called “Daisekkei Sobamae Zake” was on it. This is also from Nagano Prefecture and it’s made by Daisekkei Shuzo.
As the name “Sobamae = before soba” says, this is designed for drinking with some snacks before eating soba. It also can go with soba, and after soba. It’s not only “mae = before” but also middle and after, anyway.

When I thought about which one to order, “Miwatari” was out of choices because I had to order a bottle, so the price and volume were too much. After thinking for a while, I took “Rekka”. I decided to try “Sobamae” next time.

This is “O-karakuchi Rekka” I ordered.

It had thick flavor.
When I had it in my mouth, the taste of dry Sake hit my tongue, and the aftertaste was clear.
The dishes to go with this Sake were,

Itawasa (sliced square-shaped steamed fish paste with wasabi),

And soba-miso (soba (buckwheat) seeds mixed in miso paste).
If I were a person who can enjoy enough with these 2 dishes and Sake and a soba at last, I could lose my weight more. However, I’m not such a cool person, so I needed more protein to meet my necessary intake. So, I ordered some more.

I ordered “(Matsumoto) Sanzoku Yaki” which is shown in the middle of the menu above.
It looked like this.

The coating was crispy, and the chicken had moderate fat, and soft and delicious.
After I enjoyed these Sake and snacks, I had soba noodles at last.

Lt’s try it.

The feeling when the noodles went through my throat was smooth, and tasted nice.
The soup for dipping noodles had strong flavor of bonito flakes stock, but the noodles weren’t too weak against the soup’s taste.
It only took 1 or 2 minutes to arrive since I ordered. I was so impressed that they arranged such a delicious soba in short time. Of course, the noodles had enough chewy texture, not stretched out, so it didn’t seem they were prepared in advance.

When I was about to finish the soba, a lady of the restaurant offered me another free serve at perfect timing.
I replied “Yes, please!” automatically right away.
I decided not to have the second serve when I had a seat at first, but the decision was completely gone at that time.

The lady brought me another serve of soba on my clean plate.

I enjoyed it again.

To conclude the meal, I had Soba-yu (water of the pot which soba were boiled in).

Ate them all!

I know that it’s difficult to lose weight if I keep eating like this^^;

Anyway, this restaurant offers great deal of 2 serves of Juwari soba noodles with 700 yen. As a restaurant which locates in the town of business people called Kanda, they do great service to provide such high quality soba so quickly with convenient price.

Again, at least, my impression was it was not pre-made.
I don’t know that’s because there is some secret in noodles, or they have special operation. Maybe I need to watch what’s going on in the kitchen sitting on a counter seat to find it out.
Whatever the secret is, their service is perfectly matches what is needed in Kanda.

In addition, the inside of the restaurant was very clean unlike normal soba restaurants(^^;)
I wish there was one like this restaurant near my company.
I imagine that they will make shops in Shinbashi or Ueno……or maybe they already have.

It’s our great pleasure if this article is helpful for you.
