Ramen to Finish the Meal at “Ramen Aoyama” in Asakusa

Good evening.
Thank you very much for visiting this blog.

I introduced you a seafood Izakaya restaurant “Mekara Uroko” in the last article, and this time I’d like to write about “Ramen Aoyama” which I visited after “Mekara Uroko” for ramen noodles to settle down my stomach.

The building with a red signboard is “Ramen Aoyama”, and you can see “Mekara Uroko” at the right.
I usually don’t eat ramen after drinking considering my intake calorie control for last 5 years, but I decided to break my rule only for that day because the oysters were not so heavy and I wanted to collect information of as many restaurants as I could.

I entered the shop at around 0:00, there was three customers there.
I had counter seat and glanced at the menu.
They had a cold Sake in their drink menu, so I ordered it first.

The label was “Karatamba Josen”.
This is so-called “Light and Dry” Sake. It had clear and sharp taste.
The snacks with this Sake were,

Boiled soybeans,

And Gyoza which I order at ramen restaurants every time unless there are any special reasons not to order.
I think that it was cabbage Gyoza, and the outside was crispy and nice. Another good thing was the volume.

It was 350 yen with 6 pieces.
At most ramen restaurants, one serve is 5 pieces, so their service is very kind.
However, when I thought carefully, 6 gyoza after drinking and before ramen is a bit hard for my aged body^^;.

My parents ran Ramen restaurant and one serve is 6 pieces there.
It is my standard.
In Japanese proverb, “the soul of a child of three is the same at 100”, the things that is learned first is their standard and it is difficult to be free from it.

After a while, the ramen arrived.

The ramen I ordered was “Leek and Roasted Pork (cha-shu) Ramen”. It was very filling.
As an excuse of violating my rule of calorie restriction, I took leek as vegetable, and roasted pork for protein to make the nutrition balance better…… but as you can imagine, it just made the volume bigger^^;
Anyway, let’s try it.

The noodles went smooth through my throat, and the soup was soy sauce-based soup with rich flavor. The soup was soy sauce and pork bone stock which is a typical Tokyo ramen style, and the noodles tasted good with this soup.
I had the roasted pork next.

It was made of pork back ribs.
The soup made the pork’s softness and thickness perfectly balanced.

I used to have a policy to drink up the ramen soup every time, but if I do it now, that will be too much for my stomach. I finished the noodles and other ingredients, and left the soup.

If it was the main dish at the first restaurant for the night, I could eat and drink all, but it was too late.
I understand it well, but somehow I always want to have ramen after drinking alcohol. Doesn’t it happen to you?

Is it an instinct, or just a habit…….
I thought that it’s interesting that my body is changing as I get older, but what I feel doesn’t change that much.

If I could make a piece of Tanka poetry here, this story would be more literary like ‘The Tales of Ise (one of famous classical literature in Japan)’. I don’t think I have such ability.
Let’s try it anyway even though it’s not a good one. (This is a parody of a famous poetry in ‘The Tales of Ise’ with my poor skill. Hope you will accept this as joke.)

Isn’t the stomach what it was
Although my circumstances stays what it was
My physical state is not.

It's our great pleasure if this article is helpful for you.
