Good evening.
Thank you very much for your visiting this blog!
Today’s report is about “Sumibiyaki Yakitori-no-Ogiya” in Asakusa.
“Yakitori no Ogiya” Asakusa
It was the next day of the last article, “Roppongi MUN”s day.
I had lunch at “Roppongi MUN” on Saturday, and then went to work.
The “work” is to make up documents to submit to Financial Agency for registry.
After all, our team couldn’t finish up a big business report which was meant to be done on Saturday even though we stayed at the office until 11 at night because many extra things to check appeared after changing the structure widely.
We had to come to the office on Sunday again to check the details.
The time when we finished all was already a little passed 8 in the evening.
We finished the biggest and hardest part of our project with this repor.
I personally got better from illness, and I got a promotion in June, so I decided to go for some celebration drink in the local area of Asakusa after a long time.
Though I got promoted, my salary was reduced because I became manager and became not to be paid overtime pay^^;
The problem is that many restaurants close early in Asakusa.
The time I arrived in Asakusa was half passed 9, and non-chain, good looking restaurants were closed, or full and no seats were left.
Because I’m a shy person who need to prepare my mind for entering restaurants or bars, it was hard for me to find one in that situation.
The one finally I decided was this “Ogiya”. I actually passed by the front of this restaurant 3 times….
By the way, what kind of restaurants/bars I can enter is……
1. There are other customers moderately. (Because I don’t like staffs watching me all the time.)
2. There are no dating couples on counter seats. (Because it makes me feel lonelier.)
3. It doesn’t look very expensive. (Because I don’t have much money.)
In addition, if I can use credit cards, it would be the best (because I don’t have cash).
Ozeki Tokusen Junmai Daiginjo
Now, in the building, there were a kitchen and counter seats of around 6 on the right side from the entrance.
The left was table seats. The interior looked new, and the whole room was light.
I took a counter seat and started to see the menu.
I wished to have beer, but I have gout, so I gave it up.
This was after a long time like 2 months, and I’d just finished a big part of my work, so I felt like having some good drink.
I ordered “Ozeki Tokusen Junmai Daiginjo”.
“Good job”, and “Congratulations” to myself.
It was clear and refreshing, and I thought that it’s better with food.
The taste doesn’t disturb the food but still delicious.
I used to drink this much by 2 sips before, but my condition had been bad because of gout and so on, so I couldn’t do such a dangerous thing like before.
Menu of Ogiya
This bar serves boiled soy beans for the appetizer (you can have more after finishing the first serve), so I was browsing the menu eating the beans.
I ordered some yakitori (grilled chicken on a stick) and salad.
Like I do at home, I tried to drink while watching anime movies.
I took out my new i-Pad which I bought in May, and started the movie App as I usually do, but somehow movies didn’t start.
Even though I had already logged in, the screen shows “how to make a new account”.
It was bothering me very well.
Meanwhile, the salad arrived.
It was bigger than I thought!
I was still fighting against my i-Pad eating the salad, and after a short time yakitori came.
This is “Popular grilled sticks”, 390 yen.
It was a great buy. The meat tasted good.
I gave up the i-Pad, and started to watch Gintama (a Japanese cartoon) with my smartphone.
I made some more order. The next is “Steamed Sakurajima-chicken”.
The standard, Kara-age (deep fried chicken).
And,
Grilled bamboo shoot on a stick.
I love bamboo shoot, and I had bamboo shoot many times last year when I went back to my parents’ home every weekend in April and May for a family circumstance.
This year I didn’t go back at all due to illness, so I hadn’t had it for a long time. (I actually had one at a famous Sanuki Udon restaurant once, but it was not well cooked and was too chewy. I couldn’t taste it so it wasn’t counted.)
It was already June, so I felt strange about this “taste of spring”.
However, I hadn’t had spring-like food this year due to sick, so I craved it and ordered it.
Well, it was really helpful for someone like me that they had a menu like this.
I wanted to have “Flavored pot rice with bamboo shoot”.
It took 30 minutes to make and the time was nearly 11, and I was feeling full, so I chose that stick.
Kindness of staff
At last,
A staff gave me this soup.
It was chicken stock soup, not so oily, and made my stomach comfortable.
Other than these, I had some more sticks which I forgot to take photos of and,
This “Bikkuri Hi” (surprising highball).
The price was about 4,000yen in total.
When I went out from the entrance, 2 staffs saw me out.
I have low self-estimation, so I feel a kind of embarrassing to receive such hospitality, but it was of course very warm and pleasant.
If the restaurant has good service to the customers, not only low price, I want to come the restaurant again.
I guess many other people do so as well.
I thought that I want to come back again for the bamboo shoot rice some day.
It's our great pleasure if this article is helpful for you.
