Midnight Noodles at “Matsukaze” in Annaka

Good evening!
Thank you very much for reading this blog.

I usually update this blog once in a week, but it’s been for a long time since last update. I apologize for the delay.
I was traveling for a week, and I made my tour schedule too tight, so I couldn’t have time to update the blog during the week.
I hope to write about the trip from next week. Please look forward to it.

Today I’d like to introduce you a restaurant “Matsukaze” in Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture.

The day was Friday. I planned to go back to my parent’s home after work on that day, and I organized my work to finish early and made it at night.

It was rare to have a chance to arrive at my home town in a late evening, so I decided to have dinner somewhere in the town. I left home by car after taking shower at home.

It was already after 12 o’clock at midnight. Because it was late and the town’s popularity is small, it was difficult to find restaurants opened. I thought that Only ramen noodles restaurants should have been opened.

I wanted to have vegetables as well, so I decided to have “Champon” (noodles with a lot of ingredients such as seafood and vegetables). I went to a Champon restaurant “Matsukaze”.
It had been more than 15 years since last visit. They remodeled their shop during the time, so it was my first time to go to their new building.

This is the inside.

The counter seats were in front of the kitchen before, but the layout was changed like the photo which was more comfortable.

Let’s see the menu.

They had Nihonshu! …Well, I couldn’t order it because I had a car, though…
They also had many kinds of snacks for drinks.

Well, another time.
I ordered the normal meal menu which was the first time after many years.
The first one was gyoza (dumpling with minced meat and vegetables).

It was delicious.
The dumpling skin was thin, and the surface was crispy.
The filling inside was rather watery, and the flavor of garlic stroke later.
The texture of the skin and the flavor of the filling matched perfectly.

And the main dish, Champon arrived.

The noodles were hiding completely beneath a pile of vegetables in a big bowl.
The depth of the bowl was like this below.

It was deep!
I worried a little bit if it was ok to eat such a big Champon in midnight. ……It should be ok if I don’t do it often^^; I started with the soup.

It wasn’t thick, but it had deep and delicious flavor.
I was meant to try the noodles next, but in order to do it,

I had to break through these vegetables.
I finally reached the noodles.

Champon’s noodles are usually different from ramen noodles, but their Champon was rather like normal ramen noodles.
It was smooth and had a moderate chewy texture.
I personally liked this noodles.

I enjoyed the first part Champon. Now I tried some arrangements.
There was red pickled ginger on the table, so I put it on the bowl.

It made the bowl colourful.
I tried the noodles with this ginger.

The ginger added an accent to the Champon’s light taste.
I respect the first person who invented this kind of spice.

I finished them all!
I usually don’t drink up noodles’ soup since I had a gout, but their soup was good and light but well-flavored with clear aftertaste, so I drunk it all by accident.
Well, I had vegetables a lot as well, so maybe it should be ok^^

It was visiting “Matsukaze” after a long time, but I thought that the taste was very good as before. It makes me happy when a shop or a restaurant which I knew from long ago is doing well without changing.
I left the restaurant at the night wishing them a good and long future.

It's our great pleasure if this article is helpful for you.
