Enjoyed Food and Nihonshu “Goukai” at “AGALICO Masalle”, Machida

Good evening!
Thank you very much for visiting this blog.
Today I introduce you an Asian food restaurant “AGALICO Masalle” in Machida City.

AGALICO Masalle in Machida

I had an appointment to see a person in Machida on that day.
After I finished the meeting, I browsed shops and restaurants in Machida to collect data, and decided to have dinner in Machida at night.
I started walking around Machida Station at 7 in the evening, and the time I came to this restaurant was a little passed 10.
The town of Machida was big, and there were many restaurants and bars there.

I walked for 2 or 3 hours looking for a good place to stop, and I finally found this Asian restaurant which had a good atmoshere and looked comfortable for me.
I thought that they would have attractive Asian foods, and if they had Sake, it would be interesting information for the database of this website.
I got interested in this restaurant, so I entered to see how it was actually.

A friendly lady staff guided me to a counter seat.
It was a Saturday in the end of July.
Even though it was evening, walking for a long time outside was very hot. I ordered a beer first to moisten my throat.

Because I was very thirsty, I finished my beer right away without taking photos^^;
Together with the beer, shrimp crackers were served. The second and more helping was free.

Sake “Goukai”

After ordering my beer, I checked the menu.

As if they knew my thought in my mind, they had Nihonshu.
The sake’s name was “Goukai“.

When I left my eyes from the menu, I noticed that a bottle of “Goukai” were placed in front of me.
Why not try it! I ordered this sake for the next drink^^

The taste was a typical dry sake with clear aftertaste, so it was a kind of sake which people can drink a lot as the name “Goukai” (= dynamic, exciting) says.

Food menu

I checked the food menu next to find something good to have with this sake.

I usually want to taste as many dishes as I can, so I first ordered “Tapas of 5 snacks“.

A staff explained me that the 5 snacks on that day were “garlic shrimps”, “spicy chicken wing”, “‘MEGA’ mashed potato salad”, “honey cheese-tofu”, and “vegetable pickles” (if my memory is correct).
It was well-balanced in meat, seafood, and vegetable.

Garlic shrimps and spicy chicken were well spiced, so they were good with alcoholic drinks.
The one which was the most impressive for me was “Honey cheese-tofu“.

I couldn’t tell if it was cheese or tofu with my blunt tongue (of course, it was delicious). It was creamy and a little sticky, and tasted good with honey.
I thought that it also could be dessert after meal.

Apart from “Tapas”, I ordered “Bagna cauda” to eat some vegetables.

The decoration was beautiful, and looked voluminous, which whetted my appetite.

The dipping sauce was nice. It was based on anchovy like normal bagna cauda, but it was a little bit arranged differently.

The next one I ordered was stewed cow tendon which was cooked for 8 hours.

It was very different from that of other normal Izakaya restaurants.
Stewed cow tendon (“Gyusuji Nikomi”) usually looks like boiled cow meat itself flavored with salt or soy sauce, but this restaurant’s one was rather like beef stew.

And it tasted of demi-glace sauce. I liked it very much.
I broke the half-cooked egg on the top,

and tried it with pieces of baguette.

The egg yolk’s rich and mild taste made the combination of the beef, sauce, and baguette even better( ̄∇ ̄)

Other Drinks

As it can be imagined from their having Nihonshu in their menu, they had many kinds of drinks. Some menus were very unique and interesting.
Maybe I should’ve tried another Sake “Mio” to collect more information for this Sake blog, but I couldn’t help trying different one.
I have a policy of “Treasure every meeting” in my mind. There is no guarantee that I’m alive on the next day because my body is not really healthy, so I always take what I thought that I won’t see it again in other places.

I found some drinks which were unique and unusual for me, so I ordered them.
The first one was “Coriander mojito“.

It was just like the name.
It tasted of coriander, but it wasn’t so strong. The taste of white liquor was stronger.
I don’t like strong coriander, so it was ok for me.

The next one was “Tom yam hi“.

It was me myself who ordered it, but I was a bit scared about the taste… Does it taste of “tom yam goong”?

When I had it in my mouth, I could feel a slight flavor of tom yam goong, but the main flavor was like “Denki Buran” (a Japanese famous strong cocktail).

“Chicken over rice”

It had been more than 1 and a half month since I started intake calorie restriction, and my stomach had been smaller to feel free at this point.
But I wanted to have one more to finish this meal because I was happy to find such a nice restaurant.
I checked the menu for rice and noodles. There were many interesting menus and it was difficult to choose one. I finally decided to have something which I had never seen, “Chicken over rice“.

As its name, chicken was placed on rice.
And it was big!
I was a little bit worried if I could eat it all at first. Well, take it easy. I had a bite of chicken first.

The chicken tasted good with orange-colored and spicy-sweet sauce.
I had the rice which seemed saffron rice next.

It was a great combination of chicken and rice.
Thanks to the spicy flavor, I could eat it with no problem even with my full stomach.

I finished it all!

This restaurant’s good point was not only their food and drinks, but also the atmosphere. The staffs looked enjoying their work, and it was making the place lively and active.

While I was there, a group of customers who were sitting in my back was having a birthday party. During the party, the background music suddenly became a birthday music as a surprise, and a birthday cake was brought to them (I was not wearing my glasses so I couldn’t see it well, but I thought so).
Thanks to the restaurant’s kind surprise, their party looked very happy and fun.

I found a paper on the wall saying that this restaurant was going to open another shop in Shinjuku. I thought that they deserved it.

This restaurant was not really emphasizing on Sake, but it was still a precious place where you can have Sake with other foods, drinks, and great service, anyway. When I have chance to come to Machida in the future, I’d like to visit them again. I also want to try their new branch in Shinjuku which should be nice, too.

It's our great pleasure if this article is helpful for you.
