Good evening!
Thank you very much for reading this blog!
The last article was about Mizusawa Udon at “Osawa-ya”.
This time, as an extra story, is about a shop which we visited on the way back from Osawa-ya.
To excuse in advance, this time there is no Sake, and even no eating and drinking!
Chikyu-ya in Ikaho
After we had Udon lunch at Osawa-ya, we went to an interesting shop which is only a short driving from Osawa-ya.
I was with my relatives that time, and the reason why they joined was this shop.
A shop called “Chikyu-ya” (“Chikyu” is Earth in Japanese). What’s interesting about this shop?
Some of the letters are hiding in back, but it says “‘A Little Strange’ Fabric, Paper, Wood, Soil – Chikyu-ya”.
They sell secondhand clothes and goods, and they also do a café. Let’s see how they are “strange”.
“Tsurushi-Bina”, registered in Guinness record book
A mannequin welcomes the visitors.
But this is not the interesting point.
The things at right back side of the mannequin.
If you see upper,
You see something called “Tsurushi Kazari”.
Here,
And there. Such ornaments made with cloth are hung from the ceiling.
How many are there?
13556, a Guinness record.
Well, that’s many! That’s why it looks so great.
I wrote about my trip in Komoro City before, and I mentioned that a festival called “Tour of the dolls in Hokkoku Kaido Komoro-juku” was being held at that time.
In that festival, “Tsurushi Bina” (hung dolls) were hung from the ceiling of the local town’s houses, not cranes or foxes like here.
According to the shop’s website, these “Tsurushi Kazari” started as a present to celebrate girls’ birth in Edo period, which were made from cloth cut out from kimono.
The toys and dolls were tied with strings and hung from bamboo rings.
These were displayed in Momo-no-Sekku (doll’s festival day on March 3rd to celebrate girl’s growth).
Indeed, Komoro City had “Tsurushi Bina”.
Inside of Tsurushi Bina”
You can go in these “Tsurushi Kazari”.
Maybe the photo doesn’t seem good enough to show what it’s like, but it’s really like this ….
If you look up,
It’s like rain of dolls.
You can find,
Ones which are very similar to famous cartoon characters if you look carefully. Also,
There are gold fish, bags, and balls as well.
Their website introduces that each of these toys had a meaning such as praying for long lives or good health.
You can buy these “Tsurushi Kazari” at the shop, and from their web shop as well.
It should be interesting to get these for a present.
The number of dolls changes depends on the price.
Conclusion
Other than “Tsurushi Kazari”, they have secondhand clothes, kimono, and café.
If you go outside,
You see such pretty wooden chairs,
And Maneki-Neko (welcoming cat) which looks a bit scary,
And they even have a glass art workshop where you can make glass arts. You never get bored here.
You should check it out when you go to Ikaho and Haruna Mountain.
It's our great pleasure if this article is helpful for you.
