Limited “Tosa-Shiragiku Usurai” at “Nagi” in Kochi

Thank you very much for visiting this blog!

It’s been a long time since my last article(*_*;
Today’s blog is a report of girl’s lonely Nihonshu night by a secret correspondent “K” from Kochi.

The weather suddenly became spring-like, and declaration of cherry blooming was done earliest in Japan in Kochi the other day.
Warm weather makes me happy and excited, so I went out for a drink by myself on a Friday night.

A restaurant “Nagi” with an attractive appearance near Harimaya Bridge

I was wandering looking for a restaurant which looked to have many Nihonshu, and comfortable counter seats for lonely visitors.
Then, I found one which was interesting.

The name was “Local Sake & Hand-made food NAGI”.
I took the photo of the appearance, but it became blurred and not enough to place here… Disappointing!! (T T)

*But I used it^^; by manager

I looked inside, and found counter seats which looked nice.
I entered the door immediately.

The room was not so big, but the counter seats had enough space. Small room created relaxing and cozy atmosphere.
I could see the inside of the kitchen from the seat, and I thought that being close to the staffs was also a good point of a small room.

Nagi’s menu

In the menu book, there were many kinds of fish and meat dishes.
It looked that this restaurant is particular about the ingredients they use.
I got interested in sashimi or carpaccio of Kochi’s delicious fish, but Wagyu menu was also attractive. It was so hard to choose!

Other than these, there were also ordinary snacks such as potato salad, or meal menus like “Mapo-Tofu (spicy Chinese food of tofu) and rice”.
I thought that it would be nice to use this restaurant for the first place to take proper meals as well.

When I was having difficulty choosing which to order, a staff of the restaurant kindly said to me, “We can do small serves for visitors who came alone, so please let me know if you like small ones.
It’s so useful service for a lonely girl visitor like me!

At last, “smoked food mix” caught my eyes, as I had not seen it at other restaurants.
It was interesting that it was homemade, and I ordered it for the first dish.
I chose beer for the first glass.

After I ordered them, the beer and the appetizer arrived.

The appetizer was a spicy-sweet fried Wagyu, garlic chive, and spring onion.
It was soooo good!
I didn’t expect much for the appetizer, but it beat me completely!!
The beef was so soft!
I was so impressed that I shouted to the staff, “I’m shocked at the deliciousness!

While I was soaked in the happiness to meet such a good place, a plate of smoked foods arrived next.

It was a “half” serve.
It was egg, octopus, kamaboko (blocks of boiled fish paste), camembert cheese, and oyster.
I don’t have smoked dish very often, so the ingredients were interesting to me.

These were tasty, too!
It was nice to eat with alcohol drinks, and the taste was deep smoky flavor, and it was filling.

It was my first time to try smoked oysters or cheese.
I thought that both remained their original tastes and only good points of smoking were added to them.
The volume was suitable for sipping a drink by myself.

Only available in spring! “Tosa Shiragiku Usurai Junmaiginjo Gin-no-Yume”

As my beer disappeared, I checked Nihonshu menu to order one for the second drink.
As the name of the restaurant “Local Sake & Hand-made food” says, there were many local sake which seemed even more attractive with the comments on the menu book (there were also sake from out of Kochi! I will try them next time”!).

In the menus, words of “Only available in spring” caught my heart.
I ordered this “limited” sake.

The name was “Tosa Shiragiku Usurai Junmaiginjo Gin-no-Hana”. Only available in spring!
The website of its brewery, “Sento Shuzojo”, explained this sake like this;
“Usurai” means a thin ice which appears in the early spring. This sake brings you excitement of spring and fresh taste.

Indeed, it tasted so fresh and fruity!
Not like a dry sake which is a kind of manly impression, this “Shiragiku” was light and sweet, a little like wine.
I felt spring-like, soft, and clear image about the taste.

In Kochi, flowering of cherry trees was declared earliest in Japan the other day.
Blooming early means finishing early.
I have to hurry and do a cherry blossom picnic with such a “spring” sake!!

Perfect combination! “Tosa Shiragiku” and “Wrapped and grilled salmon and potato salad”

The sake was so nice that I couldn’t help drinking it quickly……!
I was still waiting for one more dish to come, so I slowed down my pace.

The last plate was “wrapped and grilled salmon and potato salad”.
The menu book didn’t show what it looked like, but I ordered it just because the name was interesting.

It was very wrapped!!
I opened it with excitement.

SAAAAALMOOON! Hooray!
Beneath the salmon was,

Potato salad!
It was a kind of food which I saw for the first time.
The salmon was puffy and soft, and the thick flavor of potato salad advanced my hand to drink the sake.
I sprinkled some lemon juice on it as well.

The food seemed western, but it matched “Shiragiku Usurai” because the sake was light and fresh.
The combination was perfect!

I became full at that point, and I finished the night at this restaurant.
The most impressive point about this restaurant was their good foods!

Local Sake & Hand-made food NAGI.
I will come back to complete all the food menu!
