“Haruchika” in Yushima – Udon to relieve stomach and heart –

Good evening!
Thank you very much for visiting this blog.

Today’s topic is for a category archive “My Three Meals” which is a story about a Udon noodles restaurant I visited on the day before, “Haruchika”, in Yushima, Tokyo.

Lunch at “Haruchika”

As you see in the photo, this restaurant is very close to the Number 1 exit of Yushima Station. The next door is “Tenkyu” which is a famous Tempra Restaurant for the massive Kakiage Tempra Don (Tempra on rice).

On the day I visited this Udon restaurant, I had something to do for my work in Yushima, and it was already close to 3 o’clock p.m. when I finished it. I hadn’t taken lunch yet, and found this place after wandering around looking for a good place to have lunch.

By the way, I have written about restaurants/bars which I visited for the first time on this blog, but today’s one is the first restaurant which I had visited once.
Since I started this web site, I tend to try as many restaurants as possible with limited money, so it is rare to go to same places more than twice(´・ ω ・`)

Now, the inside of this restaurant is like the next photo.

It was a small restaurant with only 1 U-shaped table. The interior design was based on white which gave a fresh and clean impression like TV ads of household items.

Recommended by Mr. Watabe, a menber of UNJASH

The next photo is the menu.

Although it was nearly 3 p.m., they were still doing lunch menus. Sadly, Soba was sold out.
I had Udon at the previous visit, so I wanted to try Soba, but I couldn’t argue because it was late.
After a little thinking, I decided to have “B lunch” which was a plate of many different dishes.

Waiting for it, I looked through menu.

The menu mentioned that this restaurant was recommended by a famous TV star, Mr. Watabe, a menber of UNJASH, famous Japanese TV star group.

And I found something in the fridge.

Bottles of Japanese sake.
The labels were “Dewa Zakura Junmai Ginjo” (“Ginjo” is a rank of sake of higher class), “Sakuno Hana Ginjo Super Dry, unfiltered” and “Junmai Kameno-O Yukino Sei”. (It’s hard to tell from the photo…. ^^;)

Japanese sake, especially Ginjo grade sake, changes its taste depends on the temperature. I think that these bottles were stored in the fridge for the temperature control.
It is good to see that they had “Sakuno Hana”, a representative sake of Nagano Prefecture because it suits the restaurant’s theme “Nagano, Shinshu” which was also written on the menu.

Udon & Currry of Haruchika

Maybe I was a bit strange staring at the fridge and the menu from the sight of staffs. The lunch arrived after a while.

The staff said to me that Tempra was still being cooked, and curry and Udon came first.
I wanted to take a photo of all dishes, so I waited for the Tempra eating a deep-fried tofu on Udon slowly.

Tempra came later and everything was set in front of me.

There wasn’t salad, so my vegetable-first diet was off. I started with Udon.

The soup was nice, but different from normal Udon soup.
I imagined that the soup contained tomatoes’ sour flavor, salt, and soup of bonito.
My stomach had been upset, but this soup was soft and made me feel warm and relaxed.

And now noodles.

They were smooth and nice texture, not too soft.

The next is Tempra.

Chikuwa (a tube-shaped fish paste), chicken, eggplant, and sweet potato.
The staff recommended to have them with salt.
All the pieces had perfect thickness of coating, and nicely crispy, not too oily, and tasty with some salt.

After finishing Udon and Tempra, I tried curry.

This is normal curry, I thought.
…? However,

I found a piece of gobo (burdock root) which is unusual for curry.
I also found,

Celery.
Thinking well, the unique taste I felt at first might have been gobo and celery.

I finished the meal.

This restaurant is also open at night, and you can enjoy drinks and other attractive dishes according to the menu.
At the counter after work, a cold glass of “Sakuno Hana” with some Nagano’s tastes and Udon for the conclusion……

I want to have such nice evening and write about the night here again!!!
This restaurant “Harucika” is a nice place that makes me feel like that.
Maybe that is also because I’ve been exhausted from over working everyday^^;.
